Using cyperus rotundus oil for hair removal but not sure if I’m doing it right

I’ve had body hair issues for as long as I can remember. My hair is thick and coarse, and no matter what I try, it feels like I’m stuck in a cycle. Shaving gives me that awful post-shave itch within a day, IPL left me with bumps so bad I couldn’t wear tight pants for a week, and waxing...the ingrown hairs were enough to make me swear off it for months.
I’ve been looking for a gentle, natural alternative to harsh chemical hair inhibitors for a while. I’m also sensitive to strong smells, so half the stuff I’ve tried in the past ended up in the trash after the first use. Recently, I heard about cyperus rotundus oil being used to slow regrowth, so I decided to give it a go. Been applying it twice a day after shaving, but I honestly don’t know if I’m seeing much difference yet or if I’m just being impatient.
Has anyone here tried cyperus oil long term? Did you notice any real change in regrowth or texture? And if you did, how long did it take before you saw results? I’m hoping I’m not just rubbing oil into my skin for nothing.

I honestly never thought I’d be writing something like this. Body hair has been my BIGGEST insecurity since high school. I remember sneaking into the bathroom at 13 with my mom’s razor, cutting up my legs, and coming out with skin that was BURNING and COVERED IN RAZOR BUMPS. By the time I hit college, I’d tried it all, waxing that left me with ANGRY RED INGROWNS, tweezing until my skin felt raw, even IPL that promised miracles but only gave me PATCHY results and empty pockets. Every method felt like a punishment, and no matter what I did, the hair ALWAYS came back thicker, darker, and faster.
Out of desperation, I decided to give cyperus rotundus oil a try. The first thing that struck me was how LIGHT and non-greasy it felt, nothing like the sticky serums or chemical creams I’d wasted money on before. I started small: upper lip and chin, the spots that always made me feel the most self-conscious.

After 1 week: Something subtle but huge happened. Normally after shaving, by day two or three I’d already feel the PRICKLY SHADOW pushing through. But this time the regrowth was SOFTER, less aggressive, like my skin was finally catching a break. Even better, no rash, no angry bumps, no irritation.
After 1 month: The difference became undeniable. Hair was still growing back, but FINER, LIGHTER, and way less noticeable. The patch of coarse hair under my chin that I used to obsessively tweeze? It looked softer, almost faded. My skin tone even looked more even, without the blotchy redness that waxing always gave me.
NOW: I’ve been consistent, and for the first time in YEARS, I don’t feel chained to a razor or wax strip. The routine is simple, the results keep stacking up, and it’s given me something I thought I’d lost: CONFIDENCE.
It feels like I finally found a way to manage my hair without DESTROYING my skin in the process. To anyone who knows the pain of hiding behind makeup, scarves, or excuses just to cover facial or body hair, this oil has truly been a game-changer for me.

I have to be honest: I cried the first time I realized it was working. I’ve lived with thick, dark chin hair for over a decade because of PCOS. I plucked, waxed, shaved, everything hurt, burned, or just didn’t last. My skin was scarred from years of tweezing, my confidence was shattered, and I stopped looking people in the eye during conversations.S o I started using cyperus oil but didn’t expect much. But after about 3 weeks, I noticed my regrowth was slower. I could actually wake up and not feel the need to grab a razor immediately. By 6 weeks, the shadow on my upper lip and chin looked lighter, and my skin tone was evening out. It felt surreal.
The oil itself is soothing, absorbs quickly, and has this earthy smell that I’ve come to love. But the real change has been inside me. I’m not hiding behind makeup as much. I’m not terrified of someone seeing me up close. For the first time in years, I feel like I have a TOOL that works with me instead of against me.
If you’ve ever felt the shame and exhaustion of constant hair removal, you know what a big deal that is. This oil hasn’t just changed my skin, it’s given me back a piece of my life.

I have PCOS and unwanted facial hair has been part of my life since I was a teenager. Over the years I tried EVERYTHING. I even spent over 5K on laser hair removal more than 5 years ago and not only did it NOT WORK, it actually left scars on parts of my face. Since then I felt trapped shaving EVERY SINGLE DAY, and at one point I was shaving TWICE A DAY just to keep up. It was exhausting and no matter how much makeup I used I could still see and feel the rough texture of the hair growing back within hours.
When I finally decided to give cyperus oil a chance, I was skeptical. But applying it right after shaving changed everything. For the first time I didn’t feel like I was constantly fighting my own skin. It doesn’t dry me out, it actually feels soothing, almost like a spa treatment at home. The scent is earthy and calming, but the biggest change has been how it SLOWS THE REGROWTH. My arms don’t need daily shaving anymore, my legs stay smooth longer, and on my face I can finally get at least HALF A DAY of smoothness that shows through my makeup. People even started complimenting me, saying my foundation looked flawless and my skin softer, which I honestly thought I’d never hear.
My routine is simple. After shaving I apply a thin layer immediately, then wash my hands carefully so it doesn’t get on brows, lashes, or scalp. On my face I use toner first, let it dry, then apply the oil. If it’s during the day I give it time to sink in before makeup, or I use it at night and rotate it with my regular skincare. I also keep my pillowcases fresh and wrap my hair just to be safe.
The difference is real. My shaves last longer, the regrowth feels finer, and the process is SO MUCH FASTER. I even did a little test: one side treated with the oil stayed smoother and calmer after 12 hours, while the untreated side was already rough, bumpy, and showing stubble. After 24 hours yes the hair does come back, but it’s clearly SLOWER and THINNER, and much easier to manage.
I can’t describe the relief of finally having something that makes me feel in control again. If over time it leads to LESS HAIR or even STOPS it completely, that would be incredible, but even right now I can honestly say it has CHANGED MY DAILY ROUTINE for the better.

This might sound dramatic, but I can honestly say this little bottle has given me some of my confidence back. I’ve been shaving my arms, legs, and face for years, and no matter how careful I was, I always ended up with razor burn, ingrown hairs, or that awful stubble that made my skin feel like sandpaper. I hated being close to people, hated the thought of anyone touching my face or arms and feeling the texture. I started using cyperus oil after every shave, and it was the first time my skin didn’t react with irritation. Within two weeks, I could tell the hair was coming back slower, and when it did, it wasn’t as coarse. By a month, my arms actually stayed smooth long enough that I could forget about shaving for a few days, something that never happened before. The emotional part is huge. Instead of dreading the mirror every morning, I feel calmer. Instead of panicking before dates or outings, I feel prepared. Finally having a gentle, natural way to manage something that’s made me feel small for so long. I’m so grateful I found this.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this is something I wish I had found YEARS ago. I’ve had dark, coarse hair on my chin and upper lip since I was a teenager. It became even worse after pregnancy, when my hormones went wild. I spent countless hours plucking in front of the mirror, crying when I saw the angry red bumps that popped up after every session. I tried waxing, but it left me swollen and raw. Shaving made me feel prickly within HOURS, and I hated seeing the shadow in daylight. For years I felt like I had to avoid certain angles in photos or tilt my head down so people wouldn’t notice.
When I started using cyperus oil, the first week felt subtle, but I noticed something different, the regrowth wasn’t as harsh. It came back softer, almost like baby hairs instead of spikes. After a month, the difference was undeniable. I wasn’t chained to my razor every day anymore, and my skin looked CALMER. No more angry red bumps, no more waking up feeling defeated by stubble.
The oil fits into my routine so easily, I apply it after hair removal and let it sink in while I get ready. My skin feels soothed instead of attacked, and the emotional relief of not obsessing over facial hair daily is something I can’t put into words.

I tried epilating my pubic area before for a while and honestly don’t really want to go back there. Waxing feels way more bearable, or I’ll just pluck them one by one if I have the patience, takes time, but at least it’s less painful. These days I’m using a Braun IPL 5 and Cyro hair removal oil, mainly staying bald. I still get ingrowns from time to time (seems impossible to completely avoid in that area), but at least my bikini line is totally smooth now.

I grew up being bullied for my body hair. Kids at school called me “mustache girl,” and I remember hiding my face in class photos. As I got older, the problem didn’t go away, if anything, it got worse. I tried every cream at the drugstore, only to end up with rashes and burns. I saved up for IPL, thinking it was the permanent answer, but thousands of dollars later I was left with nothing but disappointment. I went back to shaving daily, sometimes twice a day, just to feel normal.
When I stumbled across cyperus rotundus oil, I didn’t expect much. But I told myself, why not, I’ve tried everything else. The first time I applied it after shaving, my skin didn’t flare up like it usually did. By the second week, I realized my chin wasn’t sprouting coarse hairs as fast. By the third week, I felt SMOOTHER longer than I ever had before. For the first time in years, I didn’t feel like I had to carry my razor in my bag “just in case.”
It’s hard to explain how big this feels unless you’ve lived it. The oil hasn’t just slowed down my hair, it’s slowed down the anxiety that’s been running in the back of my mind for half my life. I’m starting to see my face again instead of just my hair, and I can’t tell you how healing that is.

I’ve been a “hairy girl” my whole life, and it shaped so much of how I saw myself growing up. My mom used to wax my upper lip when I was barely 11 because she didn’t want me to go through what she did. She was bullied in school, kids called her “gorilla girl” because her mom wouldn’t let her do anything about her facial hair. I’m grateful she looked out for me, but waxing at that age was awful. I remember crying from the pain, then walking into school the next day with a red, swollen mustache area that everyone still noticed. In high school I switched to shaving because it was quicker, but that just gave me stubble and razor burn that made me even more insecure. By college I was so tired of the cycle: wax, shave, pluck, repeat, never feeling confident. A few months ago I started using this cyperus oil after hair removal (https://bestcyro.com/products/cyro-hair-removal-oil-special-deal) and it’s honestly the first thing that’s given me real hope. My regrowth is slower, softer, and my skin doesn’t flare up the way it used to. I’m not saying it’s a miracle cure, but for the first time since I was a kid, I don’t feel like my body hair is controlling my life. It feels like I’m finally breaking the cycle my mom and I both went through.

When I turned 29, everything about my body hair seemed to change overnight. What used to be a few fine little hairs turned into DARK, COARSE STRANDS on my chin and upper lip that made me want to avoid mirrors. I tried shaving but the STUBBLE came back the next day and felt like sandpaper. Waxing left me with ANGRY RED BUMPS that looked worse than the hair itself. I remember crying once after a wax session because I felt like I was paying money just to damage my skin.

Out of pure frustration, I started reading about natural options and came across cyperus rotundus oil. Honestly, I rolled my eyes at first, I’d already wasted money on so many “miracle fixes.” But something about the reviews made me give it a shot. The first time, I didn’t follow directions and saw ZERO change. Then I realized you have to use it AFTER removing the hair so it can actually reach the follicle.
That’s when things shifted. After about 3 weeks of consistent use, the regrowth wasn’t attacking me like before. The hair came in SOFTER, LESS NOTICEABLE, and for the first time in years, I didn’t feel the need to hide my face in bright light. By month two, I wasn’t dealing with the constant cycle of SHAVE, RAZOR BURN, STUBBLE anymore. My skin felt calm, smooth, and honestly NORMAL again.

It’s not a miracle overnight fix, but it’s the FIRST TIME I FEEL HOPEFUL. Looking in the mirror doesn’t make me flinch anymore. I can breathe, do my makeup, and feel like ME again. If anyone out there feels the same shame and frustration I did, PLEASE know cyperus oil can actually help.

I saw a video about cyperus rotundus oil a couple months ago and decided to try one from a web name Cyro. I started using it twice a day on my legs and bikini area, though I sometimes forgot. Then I tried applying it right after shaving (which usually left me with irritated skin) and even after IPL sessions that gave me awful bumps, OUCHH. it’s made such a difference. My skin feels calm, the regrowth is slower, and even with just a few applications, everything stays smoother for longer. I haven’t tested it on my face yet, but for body hair, I’m really happy with the results so far.

I have really dark, coarse hair and for years I thought IPL was going to be my ticket out. I saved up, bought a home device, and stuck with the routine for months. At first it felt promising, but the sessions left my skin super irritated and bumpy, and the regrowth didn’t actually stop, it just came back patchy and weird. I remember thinking, am I really going to spend all this money and time just to trade one problem for another?
After getting so frustrated, I started looking into other options and found cyperus oil. I began applying it right after my IPL sessions, and that’s when things changed. Instead of bumps and irritation, my skin felt calmer, and over time the regrowth got noticeably slower and finer. My skin is actually healthier too. Honestly, I wish I had added it to my routine from the very beginning.

It’s supposed to be used right after hair removal, and I’ve been applying it daily for about 6 months now. I actually started noticing results in just 3 weeks, slower regrowth, softer texture, and way calmer skin. Waxing used to make my skin get super angry, but with the oil, it stays soothed and smooth <333. The results aren’t instant overnight, but with consistent use, it’s absolutely worth it.

Here’s the thing about body hair that’s always messed with my head. So many beauty standards are built around exaggerating the differences between men and women. Men grow facial hair, women are expected to have smooth, hairless faces. Men are praised for their beards, women are shamed for a little fuzz on their upper lip. I grew up feeling like I was breaking some unspoken rule because my hair was darker and thicker than what’s “acceptable” for a girl :(
I used to bleach, then shave, then wax, all because I didn’t want people to look at me and think I was less feminine. But every method left me with a new problem: bleaching didn’t hide the stubble, shaving left me prickly and rashy, waxing gave me angry red bumps. It felt like I could never win.
When I finally started using cyperus oil, it wasn’t just about slowing regrowth. For me it was the first time I felt like I had an option that worked with my body instead of against it. The hair grows back SLOWER, finer, my skin calms down, and I don’t obsess over every shadow on my face in the mirror anymore. It doesn’t erase the pressure society puts on us, but it gives me a sense of control and relief I honestly never thought I’d get.

I really, really wanna try this! Waxing always leaves me with annoying ingrown hairs, and while the epilator gets everything clean but takes so much time and is honestly painful. If this oil can help keep things smooth without all that hassle, it might just be the magic, affordable treatment I’ve been looking for 😭

Home IPL can be pretty great if you’re a good candidate and stick to the routine. While it’s not permanent, it was definitely an irritant for my skin, I’d always end up red and uncomfortable afterward. Since I started pairing it with cyperus rotundus oil after each treatment, my skin stays calm, the regrowth is slower, and the hair that does come back feels much finer.

Cyperus rotundus oil has actually been working for me, especially with that annoying prickly feeling I used to get a day or two after using a trimmer. Now my skin stays smoother for longer. I know it’s something the Egyptians used way back in ancient times, so I’m kinda surprised it hasn’t gotten worldwide attention yet. Maybe it’s just because the whole hair removal trend has only really blown up in recent years.

Don’t mix it up with cyperus scariosus essential oil, that one’s the perfumey-smelling stuff. Cyperus rotundus has more of a woody scent, and for me, it’s been a game-changer after sugaring. I used to deal with hair growing back quite fast and massive ingrown hairs, but since adding the oil, the regrowth is slower and my skin stays smooth without those painful bumps.

Not too long ago, I shared how I’d been using cyperus oil and seeing great results.
Before, shaving with a razor almost always left me with little bleeding spots and inflamed follicles, but since adding the oil after each shave, my skin stays calm and smooth. The regrowth is slower and finer too. It’s not a complete cure, I still pluck or shave, but for anyone considering it, cyperus oil paired with a consistent routine can really make a difference.

I used to shave before and it always left my skin irritated, but this oil fixed it all. Just a few drops of cyperus after I wash my face, and if it tingles or burns too much, I mix in another oil like avocado or castor since my skin’s really dry. Honestly, I just slap it on! Lately I’ve noticed I can even use a blackhead extractor and some hairs will just pop right out, so I’m thinking it might actually be killing off some follicles. I bought mine from a brand called Cyro: https://bestcyro.com/products/cyro-hair-removal-oil-special-deal

I’ve done electrolysis before, it’s the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal method, but wow, it costs a fortune and takes so many sessions 💀. I just couldn’t keep up financially or time-wise. Lately I’ve switched to using cyperus oil along with home IPL, and honestly the combo has been giving me pretty solid results. It’s definitely not “permanent,” but for the price and convenience, I’ll take it.

I read a comment from someone who said it didn’t work for them, but I honestly think cyperus oil can be effective, especially if your hormones are balanced. For me, shaving used to leave my skin irritated, prickly within a day, and covered in angry red ingrown hairs, but since adding the oil after each shave, my skin stays calmer and smoother for longer. I’m staying consistent and hopeful this will finally be the thing that really helps.

I’ve been using cyperus oil regularly and, so far, it’s been a great addition to my routine, especially after waxing, which used to leave me with horrible allergic reactions and big bumps. Now my skin stays calm, smooth, and way happier post-wax.

Hi! I’ve been using cyperus oil mixed with jojoba oil as a carrier every night for about a month, and I’ve seen a big improvement in slowing hair growth. Before, waxing always made my skin break out and tweezing left me with those little gross bits stuck under the skin, but the oil has really helped keep everything smooth and clear. It’s been a great addition to my routine, and so far I’m really happy with the results.

I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I read a study where participants waxed or sugared, then applied the essential oil twice a day to clean skin and the results sounded really promising. I’d probably avoid using it right before waxing, but starting the twice-daily routine the next day (or a couple days later if your skin’s sensitive) seems like the way to go. If it works as well as the study suggests, I’m definitely excited to give it a try!

For me, I used it right after removing hair and was honestly shocked at how quickly I saw results: the regrowth took longer and came back THINER. Before, shaving sometimes led to infections and left my bits red, and waxing gave me angry red ingrown hairs, but since adding the oil, my skin stays calm, smooth, and irritation-free.

Depends on your hair type. The Oxford study on it ran for 6 months and showed complete removal, but you’ll usually notice slower regrowth happening gradually :) For me, I used to have crazy itch after waxing, and after some IPL sessions my hair actually got worse, but after trying this oil, the itching stopped, the regrowth slowed, and the hair that does come back is much finer.

Yes, it does! As a fellow PCOS girly, I can say it works, you just need to be consistent and patient with it. It’s honestly my biggest insecurity from PCOS, and I’ve always wished there was something besides pricey laser treatments to help. I started using the oil, and by day 7 I was already seeing a difference; now, I barely even think about going back for laser.

I’m about 4 months in and my hair is growing back super sparsely now! The recommendation is 6 months of consistent use, so I’m sticking with it. Before, shaving used to make me freak the fuck out because it irritated my follicles even worse, but since using the oil, my skin’s been calmer and the regrowth SO MUCHHH finer.

It says you’re supposed to shave or wax first and then apply it, which actually makes sense, removing the hair first helps the oil reach the follicles and do its job in slowing regrowth. Plus, it’s helped me avoid the usual razor burn and redness I’d always get after shaving/waxing.

Y’all, you’re supposed to shave or wax before applying! The oil isn’t an instant hair remover, it’s a gradual process ✌ I haven’t tried it myself yet because I’ve got tattoos and super sensitive skin, but I’ve heard great things from people who have.
